Description Summary:
United Linen Services provides linen processing services to various customers within a 250-mile radius of Morgantown. This position is responsible for transportation, loading and unloading of clean and soiled laundry to and from the ULS facility and contract accounts.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

1. Maintains records, to include travel logs and mapped plans, for any/all United Linen Services transports.

2. Completes and maintains a Vehicle Condition Checklist with each use of the vehicle.

3. Maintains all transportation records according to state and federal regulations.

4. Verifies routine preventive maintenance schedules and checklists are completed.

5. Performs routine pre and post trip maintenance on the vehicle.

6. Performs cleaning of both the interior and exterior of the vehicle and trailers.

7. Conducts pre-service site visits as needed to ensure a safe travel and delivery plan.

8. Must use good interpersonal communication skills while interacting with customers.

9. Creates and executes safety policies in compliance with United Linen Service and vehicle vendor guidelines.

10. Complies to and submits all documentation in compliance with United Linen Services and WVUH policies.

11. Drives truck to transport and deliver clean and soiled laundry.

12. Maintains radio and/or telephone contact with General Manager, Production Manager or other designee to receive instructions or to be dispatched to another location.

13. Follow predetermined schedule of pick up and delivery.

14. Position blocks and tie ropes around items to secure cargo for transport.

15. Operates equipment on vehicle to load, unload, or disperse cargo or materials.

16. Reports any damaged or broken equipment to the General Manager immediately.

17. Performs loading and unloading truck manually as required. Deliver to designated drop off area.

18. Adheres to United Linen Services Infection Control Policies.

19. Other duties as assigned.

Physical Demands: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

1. Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting equipment.
2. Includes handling, lifting and carrying heavy items weighing up to 75 pounds.
3. Requires pulling carts weighing up to 600 pounds.
4. Requires the ability to operate the truck and equipment.
5. Requires standing and walking for extensive periods of time.
6. Involves some irregular hours, high temperatures and high humidity conditions.


Work Environment: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Employee may be exposed to and operate vehicle in all types of weather conditions.

Involves working with cleaning and laundry chemicals.
Involves working in very high heat and humidity.
Involves working in high and continuous noise level.
Prior driving experience with Laundry helpful, but not required.

Must have multi-tasking abilities.
Must use good interpersonal communication skills.
Must have the ability to efficiently work as a member of a team and must relate well with others.  

Position Requirements Minimum Qualifications:
• All drivers must sign a release to allow WVUH to check their previous driving record, licensure status and criminal background.
• All drivers must complete training and orientation required of all employees.
• All drivers must possess a High School Diploma.
• All drivers must be able to travel, read maps and maintain travel logs.
• CDL preferred but not required.
• Valid West Virginia Class “D” Driver’s License, valid medical card, and a minimum of three years driving experience with a vehicle of 26,000 GVW or greater size.
