Description Supervisor, United Linen Services Summary:
Supervise the day-to-day operation of United Linen Services including scheduling, task assignments, training, chemical and equipment usage. Insures that the staff’s assignments/ duties are completed such that established standards of cleanliness and productivity are adhered to.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Assigns, coordinates and monitors the workflow of United Linen Services Attendants to meet customer needs.

1.1 Coordinates coverage of all assigned areas and monitors work schedules
1.2 Performs training on new employees and annual retraining of tenured employees
1.3 Ensures the highest level of quality and cleanliness is maintained by performing regular inspections of assigned areas
1.4 Coordinates projects and assignments with supervisors and or managers on other shifts to insure a cohesive department
1.5 Constantly monitors work flow and makes adjustments as needed

2. Responds to Customer needs and issues

2.1 Responds promptly and appropriately to customer complaints and follows up to insure that corrective measures have been maintained
2.2 Follows up to insure that requested projects are completed properly
2.3 Ensures that all customer owned goods are properly sorted, washed and finished.
2.4 Ensures that all linen shipments are complete and on time.

3 Financial Management

3.1 Adheres to staffing guidelines and uses overtime in an appropriate manner
3.2 Helps meet departmental expense budget
3.3 Makes suggestions as to ways to increase productivity through the use of labor saving equipment or supplies


4 Completes personnel management duties for assigned staff.

4.1 Conducts daily employee assignments.
4.2 Consistently ensures that ULS and hospital policies are followed
4.3 Assists the General Manager and Production Manager in conducting performance reviews according to hospital format (45, 90, and year end)
4.4 Conducts and documents ULS orientation and training. Ensures that employees attend hospital new employee orientation.
4.5 Maintains competency of staff through cross training and in-services. Annually evaluates competencies.
4.6 Completes bi-weekly work schedule according to needs. Adjusts staffing as needed based on planned and unplanned employee absences
4.7 Initiates corrective action in accordance with the Local 814 collective bargaining agreement.
4.8 Ensures that all employees complete annual CBLs on time.


5 Demonstrates regard for the dignity, respect and safety of all patients, family members, visitors and other hospital personnel as defined by the hospital’s value statements


5.1 Displays at all times a caring and courteous attitude and represents the hospital in a positive manner to all persons noted above
5.2 Maintains confidentiality of patients in accordance with HIPPA guidelines
5.3 Promotes and contributes positively to intra and inter departmental relationships
5.4 Adheres to departmental dress code at all times
5.5 Adheres to established safety policies and procedures
5.6 Adheres to JCAHO standards at all times

Position Requirements Minimum Qualification:

Education and Experience:
• High school graduate or equivalent educational level
• Associates Degree in Business Administration or related field preferred.
• Two years experience in a management/supervisory capacity or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Excellent analytical, communication, and problem solving skills.

Other Qualifications:
• Must possess a high level of interpersonal skills and poise to deal with individuals on all organizational levels
• Good verbal, written and decision making skills a must
• Must be flexible with the hours and days available for duty
