Description Cardiac Monitor Tech Summary:
1.0 Performs cardiac monitoring for all telemetry and hard-wire monitored patients on 10 East.

1.1 Visually monitors telemetry and hard-wire units in Telemetry Surveillance Center (TSC) located on 10 East.
1.2 Runs, prints and interprets with documentation an ECG strip on each monitored patient every shift and mounts in designated notebook.
1.3 Maintains a log that indicates name of nurse and extension of his/her wireless phone assigned to each monitored patient each shift. Informs appropriate nurse of any dysrhythmia via his/her wireless phone.
1.4 Properly enters and deletes patients from the TSC at admission, transfer and discharge.

2.0 Assists in indirect patient care by managing inventory and assignment of certain patient equipment items on 10 East.

2.1 Keeps inventory of 10 East’s telemetry units, assigns units to new patients, and retrieves units at discharge.
2.2 Cleans each telemetry unit between each patient use.
2.3 Maintains 10 East equipment log, documenting any equipment that is borrowed, time, date, and by whom; then, records same information upon return of equipment.
2.4 Monitors equipment cabinet inventory with proper notification of malfunctioning equipment (ie: Biomed and Manager)

3.0 Assists in indirect patient care on 10 East by ensuring quality control check of blood glucose machines daily at 7pm.

3.1 Performs quality control test on each 10 East Accu-chek machine daily at 7pm.
3.2 Cleans blood glucose monitoring machine on a routine basis to ensure accuracy.

4.0 Assists in routine unit operation as directed/needed to ensure smooth communication and functioning of the unit. Ensures smooth communication with other units for whom cardiac monitoring is being performed with proper documentation.

4.1 Maintains job specific expectations
4.2 Courteously answers telephone, identifying self and unit at all times.
4.3 Relays accurate message to appropriate receiver with documentation in a timely manner.

5.0 Other related duties/projects as assigned by Manager/Director.

6.0 Maintains HIPAA and JCAHO Standards

Position Requirements • High school graduate required. Graduate of Technical Education Program or Medical
Assistant Program preferred.
• Basic computer knowledge and skills.
• Good verbal and writing skills.
• Continued employment contingent upon successful completion of Basic and Intermediate Dysrhythmia Courses during orientation and annual competencies.
